Hey Beauties!! This is my first post for 2017, so hope everyone had nice new year celebrations and got a break from their daily lives to relax. I recently purchased this adorable Australis Contouring and Highlighting Kit. I have never owned a contouring kit before therefore I was instantly intrigued as it was both a highlighting and contouring kit and also the price of it was only $20 AUD.

The packaging of the contouring is simple yet eye-catching due to the hot pink letters at the front and also the cartoon image of the girl with the contoured face. At the back of the cover, there are images of each cream/powder colour with the names, which is helpful in identifying the different pans. When you open the packaging, and turn to the back it contains instructions on contouring and highlighting, which is helpful to beginners of contouring.

From Australis Website:

What is it?Define your features and shape like a pro with these six powders designed to contour and highlight the face, taking your daily make up routine next level! This palette is formulated to provide a natural, healthy glow for any skin tone offering a contouring trio and a highlighting trio.
Why we  itThe contouring trio defines the natural curves of your face whilst the highlighting trio compliments your skin. This product comes with step by step instructions on the back of the palette to make sculpting and defining a breeze!

When you finally open the contour kit, 6 different pans of cream or powder (as pictured above) will be in front of you. The top row consists of the creams and the bottom row contains the powders. I personally prefer the powders as they are easier to work with and does not get too messy if smudged on the face. Below are the reviews and swatches of the cream and powder colours with the names.

Cream

Reviews:
The main advantage of the cream colours is that they provide ease in blending. Out of the three different creams, my favourite has to be 'banana'. The reason is that when applied it acts like a concealer to cover up any blemishes and brighten the under eyes. This colour is warm and feels subtle and light on the skin. The 'highlight' cream colour is my second favourite. This colour is less warm than 'banana' however when applied it helps brighten up and give the cheek a nice sun-kissed glowing look. The 'contour' colour is quite nice however, it smudges easily leaving a dark coloured spot on the cheeks. This makes the contouring part slightly more difficult as if smudged, the area needs to be cleaned and in some cases the process needs to be restarted. Also, this colour is quite heavy on the skin and when blended out turns darker.

Powder

Reviews:
The powder colours all equally impress, however, the one that most stands out for me is the 'highlight' colour. This colour gives off a nice pinkish highlight that is perfect for a soft glowing look. It only requires two strokes using a blushing brush to give a nice highlight on the cheeks. I would also wear this on top of the cream 'highlight' colour to set it, that way the powder shows up more as well as keeps the cream lasting longer. The 'contour' colour is a tad dark on the cheeks therefore, I suggest applying only a few strokes of it using a bronzer brush. This can also be applied on top of the 'contour' cream colour to get a more sculptured cheekbone and a defined contour. The 'contour' powder shade can also be applied around the hairline to make the contour more natural. The 'banana' is quite simple and natural. I personally am not a fan of this shade as it does not show up nicely on my skin tone. But this colour would definitely suit someone with a lighter skin tone. If I am to use this shade I will use it on the corner of my eyes to brighten them up and look more lively. Also, on the arch of my eyebrows for them to stand out and look on #Fleek. From the below swatches you can see how the powders turned out on my skin tone.

Overall: I love how convenience this palette is as it consists of both powder and cream pans. This allows the user to experiment with both types and see what they most prefer. The creams are easier to blend out using a sponge while the powders help set the creams for a longer lasting look. This Australis palette is perfect for beginners to learn about contouring and explore using the creams and powders available. It is also definitely worth the price.
